About Me

My name is Amir Hanan, I live and work in Israel and this is my blog!

I’ve been leading Knowledge Management (KM) projects since late 2003 starting at a projects software company doing turnkey projects and consulting various companies in the Israeli market (banks, insurance companies, government offices and hi-tech companies – big and small). Since then I’ve moved to a new position with a global enterprise company called Amdocs at an information system department within IT.

This would be a good time and place to mention that this blog is not affiliated with any company in particular; the views and insights I share with you are my own and should be taken as such. Of course I will not share any proprietary information of my company or companies I’ve worked for in the past, however I relay on experiences gathered in the course of my professional career that serve as base for what you’ll find in this blog.

Amdocs, in case you don’t know, is offering products and services to Telecom businesses around the world in over 60 countries with about 18,000 employees. That means a lot of knowledge that needs to be managed :)

I use the term Knowledge Management mainly when I talk about my job, but in fact my work requires quite a few areas of expertise so you'll find me talking about Document Management, Social Networking, Collaboration, Enterprise Search and lots of other topics that drive KM in modern companies.

I started out as a developer and worked my way through systems analysis before I started dealing with core business aspects, strategy and management in general. For a few years now, I've been working side by side with usability experts - learning to appreciate the enhanced user experience deliverables produced based on UCD (User Centric Design) methodology. I've been a vendor, these days I am on the customer side working with external vendors towards accomplishing the goals of the internal employees in Amdocs… it's a small world but I keep learning new things everyday!

Did I mention I love gadgets and all things tech related?
Well, some would say I have tendency for addiction when it comes to these things. I try to follow up closely on the news and reviews from blogs, tech sites, podcasts, twitter and so on, which surprisingly takes quite a lot of time (mostly since there is a lot of it on the web).
I am one of those called "early adaptors" I guess, not the hardcore nuts that stand in lines or get whatever it is on the first week - I can delay the satisfaction usually until I can get my hands on some professional reviews and form an opinion, but there are cases in which reason and patience get overridden by… I want to say.. Passion :)

That's about it,

The rest you can read about in the blog...
